Monica Salvatella
My background in academia spans several areas of study. These include counseling psychology in the Education Faculty UBC, brain cognition with an emphasis on human vision at the Department of Psychology, anthropology focusing on Indigenous studies at the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Arts in visual art and communication from Toronto Metropolitan University.
I have a strong background in Family, Child & Youth Care. Working both in private and public agencies with children and adults, this was in conjunction with the Ministry of Children and Families. As a result of that working experience, I have developed a strong interest in researching and studying the trauma responses of children in the classroom as well as trauma within family dynamics. I am a proponent of humanistic psychologist Carl Rogers and the client-centered therapy of Alfred Adler.
I am a provincially and federally vetted tutor qualified to work at the college level in British Columbia.
Presently, I divide my work between tutoring adults and working in a supportive role with neurodiverse learners at the Vancouver School Board. I live in Vancouver, BC.
